The Thureophoroi are an interesting multi role infantry unit of the era. Equipped with a doru (spear), javelins, thureos shield and Hellenistic helmet. They could be fielded in skirmish formations in rough terrain, in line or block units on the battle field. These have been given a non-specific shield transfer that would work for Ptolemaic, Seleucid, Macedonian, Pergamum etc. Their wire spears are 55mm long and javelins are at 32mm. I’ve twisted these wire spears straight, cut to length, ground a cone on the blade end and flattened the cone to a spear tip. The (.04″) diameter wire is sold in bulk and can be bought at any hardware store. Wire used to suspend drop ceilings is what we have used here. In case you’ve missed it, it comes in a coil and you’ll have to twist smaller suitable lengths of it straight with a drill at one end and a clamp on the other. Then cut the desired spear and javelin lengths as needed before carrying on with the listed steps above. Never need to buy pre-made spears again.
